New Member, Hello from Iraq

Hello all, just a short post to introduce myself.

I am a SSG in the US Army, currently deployed to Iraq. I enjoy photography as my only hobby, and started about 7 years ago with a AE-1 and have gone full spectrum in that time. I have owned and used various 35mm, 645, 4X5, and DSLR's. I currently have a Pentax K10D with all the fixins waiting for me in Texas, and I am making the 15 hour flight home for R&R on the 26th of November. I also enjoy using RF cameras for B&W film and the occasional roll of color film but usually reserve my DSLR for color subjects. I hope to have a photography related business once I retire from the military, but am unsure of exactly what I will do...I have 12 years to figure that out. Anyway glad to be here and hope that at some point I can contribute to the forum.

Thanks for the welcome, happily I am not in harms way all of the time. I will post some photos of my R&R when I get a chance. I know I am going to use my new K10D alot while home. I'm hoping to get some good shots down on South Padre Island of migratory birds as well as in Mexico for a couple of day trips.

Welcome to the forum and like everyone else says - keep safe even though you might not be in the theatre.

Looking forward to some of those bird shots and enjoy your R&R.

Welcome bro! I know the feeling of coming home from a long deployment from over there. I retired in August from the Air Force (I know our deployments are shorter), and my wife is still active, so I play Mr. Mom while she's gone. Welcome aboard and enjoy some well deserved R&R!

First off, thanks for your service! I have two daughters serving in the Air Force as well as two Son-In-Laws. All four are career military. I have utmost repect for you guys who can put it on the line for your country. It takes a special type of person who can make it a career for 20 years. I am sure you will fall in love with your new K10D waiting back home.
