Well this is my first post and looking forward to receiving info on pentax cameras. It's been many years since I owned a decent camera and looking for one in the next few weeks. This is going to be a difficult decision and looking at Pentax K7/Nikon 5100/Canon 550D.

Any thoughts and comments would be welcome.

Could you include what type of subjects you are hoping to shoot and if you have lenses from previous systems.

Mystery

I have just got back from my hols and still looking for a camera. My main features for a camera are for wildlife. We have red kites in the field just behind us and the owner of the land feeds them. It must be 15 years since I had a decent camera (Canon A1).
So really will be starting again. As above comments it is very difficult to choose but the camera needs to have as much fps as possible. The info on most cameras don't quite give ALL the info between shooting RAW/Jpeg. I would like the images to be RAW which I could edit in photoshop if needed. I am also very interested in HDR so this will be a big learning curve. BTW I sold all my equipment so have no lenses at all but it gives me a total new way to go.

At present it looks like the pentax K7 or the nikon 5100....your thoughts would be welcome.

I have just noticed on the Pentax DSLR Comparison page that the K7 is discontinued! Is there going to be a replacement?

The K-5 is the K-7's replacement. The K-7 has actually been discontinued since March.

Does this mean the K5 will get cheaper? (In my dreams maybe)!

The K-5 will get cheaper by the next successor, for sure.
But that may take a year or so. In the meantime, there are a number of second hand cameras you could look into throuogh this forum's marketplace.
