Newbie here...keen to learn.

Hello everyone. I've just got my first ever DSLR camera, it's a Pentax K110d that my Dad has given me. Up until now I have only used a Fuji Finepix A500 so this feels like a huge leap to me. I have no technical knowledge of photography, have never used computer software to enhance photo's etc, so I basically feel like I have everything to learn.

Areas I am especially interested in are macro photography...I've never done this but love looking at macro pictures, I'm also interested in taking photo's of landscapes and old buildings.

It would be great to get to know people on here and I'd love it if anyone can offer any advice on the best way to go about learning how to use my new camera, books I should read, magazines that may be helpful...anything really!!

Welcome! What I would suggest is playing around with your camera and asking questions if you run in to trouble or there's something specific you don't understand. We also have a few photographic articles you might find helpful:

There's a simple BASIC program for learning your camera:

10 Study Study Study
20 Practice Practice Practice
30 Ask Many Questions
40 GOTO 10

After 5+ decades of shooting, I'm still in that endless loop. Photography is like that.
