Newbie hunting for KX - and want start adventure with Pentax !!

I see you're in Michigan. I saw this on the Detroit area Craig's list: WHITE PENTAX 12.4 MEGA PIXEL CAMERA BODY AND LENS FOR SALE Seems a little under-priced so I'd be cautious but it may be worth a look.

That depends on you. (Welcome, BTW!) I haven't used a K-x so have no direct experience with it, but check out the Pentax DSLR comparison for info. You could get a K20D for a similar price, so that might be a good comparison to start with. The K-x will be more like a P&S in that it is smaller/lighter, has "scene modes", uses AA batteries, and relies more on screen menus to change settings. The K20D is larger/heavier (which some prefer) and has more wheels and buttons for manual control.
