Rare asahi pentax 6X15

Hi - I'm new to the forum and have a post Jupiter Jr that is still 6X15. The story is that my father brought it back from WWII during his service in the South Pacific as a SeaBee. It has a leather case and is No. 230144. Is this rare?

Please let me know - Thanks - Bruce

Welcome! I gargled for jupiter junior 6x15 and found that these post-WWII small binoculars aren't especially rare, but may sell for US$100-300 now. Do you ever use yours?

Asahi Pentax 6X15

Yes I do. This isn't a Jupiter Jr but an Asahi Pentax 6X15. My research shows they started at 6X25 so I'm confused.

Ah, I understand better now. From the little I've read, the Asahi Optical Jupiter Jr 6x15 and Jupiter Sr 6x25 are immediate post-WW2 binocs. Asahi didn't adopt the Pentax name until around 1957 IIRC, so any binocs labeled Asahi Pentax would date from then or later. I'm not really a binocs guy; maybe someone else can help.

IS THERE A BINOCULARS SPECIALIST AROUND HERE?

Maybe that'll grab some eyeballs.

For a good reference site on miniature binoculars including both the AOCo/ Asahi and Pentax marked variations see MiniatureBinoculars.com
