Hi everyone, my name is Emma and i am joining you from a small country town in Western Australia. As yet i don't have a pentax but am looking for a second hand K-R and haven't decided on the lens yet. Am very new to SRL photography but have been a fan on the sidelines for years. Taken me a long time to save for my camera and won't have money to keep upgrading or changing lenses so taking my time to decide what suits me before i spend my hard earned cash! Am learning so much from reading posts on here and just trying to soak it all in...which is hard to do without a camera to practice on! Thanks for having me x
Welcome to the forums. If you get a K-r and the kit lens you can do quite a bit with it. You can also keep your costs down by using legacy, manual focus, lenses when you're ready for something more. It is very satisfying and more engaging to use manual focus. It adds to the hobby in my opinion.
I'm not sure how the camera market is there (I know things can be a lot more expensive in general there compared to the US), but if it has any resemblance to here, pentax is a good way to go if you are on a tight budget (I'm in the same situation right now). Used pentax compatible lenses can be had quite cheap.
Thanks! I haven't found a used camera website yet, was looking at camera's for sale on this site, I notice a lot are from the States and was wondering if the warranty would cover the camera still if it was sent over here? May need to post that question elsewhere though, not the welcome thread!
