Hello, finally

Hey all,

I've been a member since last January when I bought a K-5 but haven't posted until now. The learning curve for the K-5 has been steep for me but these forums always provide the needed answers, thank you everyone for that! I've been somewhat overmatched with the technical range of the K-5 but am learning, and LOVE what it can do.

My first SLR camera experience was with a Spotmatic that my dad received from Honeywell as a 25-year service award in 1967. I used it for some college photography classes and general fun until my mother got a Spotmatic F in 1975 from Honeywell for her 25 years of service and gave the camera to me. I used the SF for 15 years or so and eventually put it away, but I always remembered what great photos that camera took and how much I enjoyed using it. The original Spotty went to my brother but has recently come back to me as well.

After much research last year, I decided to jump in and buy a K-5 body and a couple of good lenses keeping in mind I could still use the old M42 screwmount lenses on it as well (yup, got a Pentax adapter).

I had my SF serviced and it's loaded with film now and ready to go but I spend so much time with the K-5 that I might not get much use out of the Spotty, we'll see.
