My very first post here

Hi, I've been reading PentaxForum for years, but actively posting on DPR Pentax SLR Talk. My very first digicam back to 2003 was quite iconic Pentax Optio 450. Two years ago after the long-long break I returned to SLR world with K-x and 18-55mm + 55-300mm combo kit, which I abandoned already a year ago. There is a list of what I'm using now:
K-5
Pentax: DA*60-250/4; FA*300/4.5; DA16-45/4; M50/1.7
Tamron: 90/2.8; 28-75/2.8
Tamron Adaptal-2: 180/2.5; 400/4
Sigma 10-20/4-5.6
Rokinon 8/3.5
Helios 52/2
Tele converters: Pentax 1.7x AFA; Vivitar Series1 1.4x AF; Bower MC7 2x AF
And, as you know, LBA never ends: rolleyes:
I don't shoot portraits and sport actions. I do like some staged close ups and macros. Recently after spending almost a month in Malaysia (for business) and bringing back about 100GB of images of nature and wild life I caught an itchy virus to photograph birds and animals. I'm attaching a few of my pictures from different genres, but not sure how they are going to show up. Thank you for looking and this wonderful forum.

Thanks again

There are a few random images from this year to introduce myself. I'd like to have more opportunities to see and shoot these fabulous wild life creatures. Unfortunately it doesn't happen too often :-).

The rose is great. It makes me want to try for something similar one day. Is is just a red or infrared filter effect for the conversion or is it more complicated?

Sincerely,
--Anders.

Thank you, Anders. There is nothing complicated at all. I over exposed the image a bit, and than de-saturated it and converted into B&W. It was even shot hand held. I took it to try an idea of making such washed out image when I spot two tonal red and white rose. The whole process supposed to be a mock up and all PP was done in iPhoto. Surprisingly it went very good: the simpler, the better, I believe. The image won a 1st place in one of the DPR challenges (B&W rose, as I remember).
BTW: personally I like the color version more. it was accepted in PPG right before they close it for submission.

There is a learning curve but it's worth it.
