Hi from Hangzhou, China

Hi, everybody! I'm from a beautiful city-Hangzhou in China. Glad to meet Pentax friends here. I have KM & A50/1.7. I'm looking for a wider angel lense and happened to find this wonderful forum. Hope to find more fun here.

What do you think of K24/2.8? I'm looking for one.

Welcome! The K24/2.8 is very highly regarded. Here are the user reviews: Pentax 24mm F2.8 Reviews - K Prime Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database

Alas, it is beyond my budget. My favorite around 24mm is the Vivitar-Kiron 24/2 in PK-M mount; it works like the K24/2.8 and is one f-stop faster. Some less expensive options are Vivitar-Komine and Sigma 24/2.8, and the slower Lentar-Tokina 25/3.5. These are often in M42 screwmount and thus need an M42-PK adapter. The Sigma Superwide II 24/2.8 is also well-liked and can be found in PK mount.

I enjoy using the K24/2.8 very much. It is compact and beautifully crafted, the focus ring damping is perfect for my taste, and I find the moderately wide field of view on APS-C very useful. Sharp. That said, with my copy at least there are a few drawbacks. It is prone to flare and I don't yet have the ideal hood for it. Color rendition is a trifle warm, and overall contrast is lower than my DA lenses. I gather the SMC coatings were changed for the better with the introduction of the A series, and I guess that is the main factor in the issues I mention. However, I haven't seen these issues reported in other reviews. Maybe when I get a more appropriate hood ...
