Hello Pentaxians,

Just joined the forum and I have a mystery for you all...

I just found a K100D in Dads cupboard...he passed away a while ago and I am going through things. The camera looks like a display camera he purchased a while ago when a certain camera store nearby was shutting down..

I cleaned everythin and put batteries in it and the camera has had only 31 shutter activations. BUT i noticed that it had trouble focussing in dim light and that the view finder and diopter were very dim? Any suggestions on what could cause this? I have a K10D and I know it has quite a bright viewfinder. I swapped lenses
in case it was the lens but the kit lens worked on the K10D....I am puzzled!!!

The Viewfinder on the K10 is a .95x 955 PentaPrism (More like the old school film prism)
The Viewfinder on the K100d is the dimmer smaller magnification .85s 96% Pentamirror

As for the AF sensitivity
The K10 has -1 to 18 EV
The K100 has 0 to 19 EV

So the K10 will focus with one stop less light

The metering on the K10 is also lower light capable

there is a neat comparative tool now in the review section that lets you compare feature content
