New to the forum...

But not new to Pentax.

I've been through a few of their cameras, especially an older screwmount Spotmatic and a k1000. I still have both of them; the k1000 is used occasionally.

The Spot now sits in a cabinet in the living room at home as a conversation piece. Its shutter works, but the mirror is locked up. I can't be bothered to have it fixed, so there it sits.

Up until a year ago, I've used nothing but these cameras for most of my shooting. Apart from some smaller point-and-shoot digital cameras (both Canon ), I didn't want to go digital with my 'serious' photography... until I was forced to realize the rising cost of shooting film. At that point (Oct 2010, the K-x was within my reach, so I bought one from B&H in New York City. Shooting has been great ever since, and I recently got a 35mm f2.4 DA lens, which brings a bit of an old-school feel to some of my photos. Someday, I should score an adapter for the lens that's on the Spot, a 50mm f1.4. I think that piece would be great to use digitally.

Welcome! Do get an adapter for your old 50/1.4; Pentax is selling them again and for a reasonable price. Of course you'll find that the 50mm field of view on the K-x is now more of a portrait length rather than the normal it was on your Spottie. What lens do you have on the K1000?

Welcome aboard. I second the recommendation that you get an adapter. The old M42 lenses can really add an entire new dimension to shooting with the K-x.
