So I bought my camera--a Pentax K-r--just a few days ago. The decision to go Pentax was largely on a whim; I thought I was dead set on getting a mirrorless camera (an EP-3 to be more specific), but somehow along the way, I bought the K-r. I think the price (roughly USD690) together with its feature set is what helped me decide on my purchase.

Maybe I'll be able to post pictures soon. I'm a total beginner and I know very little about aperture, exposure etc. My photos often come up either overexposed or underexposed but that doesn't really stop me from enjoying taking photographs

So that's it for my introduction. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute to the community sometime soon

Welcome to the forum. Getting the exposure you want is a learning curve, made easier by digital (Learning on film you either kept written records of exposure so you could look at the developed film or you never learned from mistakes)

have a look for the book below it should help a lot

Understanding Exposure, 3rd Edition: How to Shoot Great Photographs with Any Camera: Amazon.ca: Bryan Peterson: Books

looking forward to seeing some shots from you
