*ist DL SD card capacity

I just recently purchased an *ist DL and have used it for about a month. It came with firmware version 1.0. I just received a 4.0 GB SD card, but the camera won't format it. If I update the firmware to version 1.03 will it accept a 4.0 GB card? Thanks.

P.S. I am also a new member as of today, 12/28/2007.

I also had a problem with a 4 GB card, but it's reading it fine now that I've updated to 1.3.

Keep the questions coming, and enjoy the information that is shared. I've learned a lot, just by reading the other posts.

Oops - just realized you have a *ist DL. I was thinking about the K10D. I'm not sure if the *ist DL can handle a SDHC card. Look at the information on the Pentax site detailing the features in the 1.03 update. If it mentions SDHC, then you're in luck.

Hi. I'm fairly new here too. I heard of this upgrade on the *istDL, so went hunting for an upgrade for my Samsung GX-1L (v similar if not the same).
So I'm the proud user of a 2Gb SDHC card. But I actually never filled my 1Gb card and I've come across people who have had SD cards fail. My feeling is therefore that two 1Gb cards are more 'resilient' than one 2Gb card.
Of course, if you've no other use for the 4Gb ... and there may be other little fixes and tweaks in the upgrade that aren't mentioned on the webpage.

The information about the 1.03 update for the *ist DL does provide support for 4 GB cards:
