New to Pentax forum, but my girlfriend not happy

GF: Honey, pizza's here
ME: Just a minute
GF: You've been at it for hours, what is so interesting?
ME: I'm reading the Pentax forum
GF: [suddenly appears at the door] You're doing *WHAT*?

Hello, I am new to the forums, and to Pentax - well hopefully.
After months of reading and researching, I have decided to pick a K-5 for my camera upgrade (and first DSLR).
Still reading to figure out which lenses to get with it.
Almost picked one up today, but the store I was at had serial numbers 38xxxxx, so didn't want to risk it. (the serial # DB is the best)
My birthday is in a few weeks, so I hope to get one before then, to take it with me to my annual birthday road trip.

Now that my girlfriend has realized I am only reading the Pen"TAX" forum, maybe she will pick up a lens for me as well.

This web site is such a wonderful resource and environment for new (or pre) owners, and would be worth going with Pentax just because of it.

Thanks all, and looking forward to reading more and hopefully eventually helping others as well.

Haha nice one Argun! Welcome to the forums and feel free to ask questions. Have fun with the K-5, it's an excellent first camera (or last camera for that matter).

Welcome Argun! Sure looks like you have been all over the forum even checking out those serial number databases!
Make sure you step away from the keyboard and get out and take pictures once the K-5 lands

If you have access to the camera at the shop, you can easily do the sensor stain test right there and confirm if it is a good one or not.
You may not have to wait and maybe you can also bargain for a better deal if it has been sitting there a while...

That's a good idea... but I have also read that the stains appear after a few hundred shots, no?

My piggy bank is looking quite nervous

Yes I guess that was the case sometimes... You are better off being sure with a later batch, true.

K-5 is a good'un. Good choice on holding off for the better batch. I've had 2 friends that have had problems with the #3xxxxxx mounts.
