Venues make the stink about cameras. Rick Springfield allows his fans to. Now that you guys bringing up the big lens may not acceptable makes me

I just looking for input

I had an issue with one of the local venues where I live, so I contacted the Dir of Sales/Customer Service - got special permission to bring my camera and lenses to the next event.

Try it - can't hurt!

Wahoo...I got my 55-300mm f/4-5.8 ED Lens..
And Rick Springfield Concert is just 2 days away. Now to get the setting for low light and all other important camera tips to get awesome pictures of the Rickster
You did the right thing.. You'll like the long lens for a long time. Add a Raynox 150 close-up lens later & you'll be able to photograph pretty much the entire range of stuff that can be photographed with a hand-held camera - from a tiny ant up close to a bluebird almost too far away( they are always almost too far away!)

Put the 18-55mm lens on the camera for when you enter; don't make the long lens too obvious. Don't even carry a camera bag maybe?

Or just carry a ton of gear out in the open with a laminated something or other around your neck -- "I'm THE photographer!"

Security guys at my loocal casino (Jackson Rancheria, Amador County, California) don't fall for that one. But if the head of security lives next door and we're not enemies, much can happen, eh?

Hi...New here and an inspiring photographer.
I had got a new camera for a present (Pentax Kx) with the small lense. 30-55mm lense

I am going to a Rick Springfield concert on March 3 and looking to get a better lense. Unsure what to get. My seat is center section, row 5 and aisle seat.

Any help in knowing what type of lense to get and what to have setting at...

Rick is one that does not stand still that long
JFAHEY, just checking back - how'd things go at the concert? Get any good photos?

@jfahey - Rick will likely be playing that double-necker electric of his so you will want a bit wider shot now and then

@rio - Robin Trower !!!! Loved Bridge of Sighs after he split from Procul Harum. Didn't even know he was still making music.

Bonjour ... and welcome

Looks like you got a lot of good advice ... I have the DA 55-300, but have never shot in the conditions of a concert. Please let us know how it went ... Thanks.

Allez et bonne chance, J
