Hi from Springfield IL

Hi, I'm Mike........the reason I started drinking................!!! Sorry...........wrong site!!

I just won an eBay auction for a K5 (not sure I "won" ) and I am looking forward to testing its specs. Up until now I've been an Olympus user....nice compact cameras with a lot of "oomph". I'm not sure if Pentax will supplant them (E510 and E520) or not. I'm especially intrigued by the weather proofing, and "armor" of a metal body.......I like to work out of doors.

Like a lot of people my "age", I started with Kodak 120 roll film cameras, and then 127 Instamatics. My first SLR was a Minolta SRT 100.

I do have to say though, since working with DSLRs the last four years, I finally dug out my father's Zeiss Ikonta (120) and started playing with film again when I traveled to Santa Fe NM and the Grand Canyon last year.

Like the Olympus cameras I have, I'd like to experiment with prime lenses from the Pentax film line.

Anyway, thats my little story as far as it goes.

Well, you will have fun. I have more 'film line' lenses than the new DA line for my camera. the K mount has been around for 37 years, but with
an easy to install adapter you can even go back to the 'screw mount' lenses that predated 1975. Once you figure out the 4 major variants of the K mount life will be good. There are some compatibility charts around.
