Hello my name is Ron I'm a reformed Nikon user user

I was on the dark side for over a year, I have seen the light and am awaiting my K5. Should arrive on the 16th. It is my 60th birthday present to myself.
Sold My Nikon D3100 and 4 lenses on ebay last month. I still have my lovley Olympus E-PL1 so I am not without a camera.
This seems like an active and friendly fourm

Hello, welcome, and I know you're going to love the upgrade. I let someoen who was a Nikon D5100 user mess with my K5 a bit (while I was there) and they fell in love.

Welcome! Just so you know, the k-5 is very similar to the D7000, so you should be happy on that front!

Except now you can bring the k-5 out into rain

thank you

for the warm welcome I have been enjoying reading this fourm. Lots of info! so A question
if Canon users drive Chevys, Nikon owners drive Fords, Olympus owners drive Sabbs
what do Pentax owners drive? I think Volvos slightly different and very high quality.

Welcome Ron. You've seen the light at 60 eh? That proves it's never too late to come to your senses.
I'm sure you'll enjoy your K5 and this site.

Regards

Welcome, Ron! I think my Subaru Forester is a good match for my Pentax gear.

They probably shouldn't issue drivers licenses to Canon users.

Got my K5 today I played with it until the battery went dead. All I can say is WOW! really a quality camera, very solid, fast focus. I think I found a camera I can like. But what is with the "vintage" d-rings for the strap. I don't use a neck strap so now they are just jingling around. Of course the firmware is old but i'll have to get a full charge on the battery for that. tomorrow.

Welcome to Bokehville Ron.

I removed my d-rings and use a dual or single Black Rapid strap for my K-5s.

Welcome Ron.

I think the correct answer is that they drive Subarus.

I have a Subaru...and a Prius for the commute.

A K-5 just in time for the great bird migration up the Mississippi valley - got your 55-300 ready?
