Hello

I've had Pentax cameras for more years than I care to admit and just found this forum while searching for an answer to a question that's been driving me crazy!

Welcome Karen!

I'm a long time Pentax fanatic as well. I also just discovered this forum and bought my first digital SLR to upgrade from the rugged old K1000 manual. AAAANNNNNNDDDDD, as fate would have it I was born & raised in northern Maine so I too, am no stranger to snow & cold weather. Except I got to experience it without the breathtaking beauty of the Rockies - just crappy, rainy rolling hills and potato fields (that's potatoe fields for you classically educated folk).

White Balance in Snow

I would use the built in white balance setting convenience on the camera.
  1. Take a photo including the snow
  2. Immediately press [Fn]
  3. Select [WB]
  4. Select [Manual]
  5. Use the four way controller to set the snow colour correctly. The image will be visible on your LCD while you do this.
