New to the forum

Hey All,

Although I'm active on a number of other user forums, I am new to this one.

I've been a Pentax fan ever since I bought my 35mm Super Program SLR back in the early 80s, when I was stationed (Air Force) on the Greek Island of Crete. Over the years, I've taken tons of pictures that I've been very proud of... that is until I returned from an Alaskan cruise.

Now, I will admit, the weather could have been better. Unfortunately, with a "film" camera, I had to wait until I got back before I could see how my pics turned out. To say that I was disappointed is an understatement. Although I had a few shots here and there that turned out okay, for the most part I ended up wasting quite a bit of money on film and processing. Fortunately, my wife and I also brought along a couple of digital point & shoot cameras, so we were able to take a number of shots where we could see the results right away.

Once we compared the digital shots with the "film" pictures, we decided it was finally time to invest in a Digital SLR. So, I'm now the proud owner of a Kr. Although it came with the standard 18-55mm lens, I also have a Soligar 35-200mm Zoom with Macro that I was using on my Super Program that offers more versatility.

I'm enrolled in a digital photography class so that I can learn to use my DSLR like a pro... or at least take some pics that I'm proud of. At any rate, if the pics are terrible, I can always delete them before anyone else has a chance to see them.

I'll be posting a few pics along the way, so I'm looking forward to any and all criticism & encouragement.

Great intro, and welcome to the forum. There's lots of places for help and info here, and the challenges are fun.
