Welcome to the forum, it may pay you to read the camera reviews before making your decision on which digital SLR to buy. Good luck on your final purchase.

The other thing you need to think about when buying a DSLR is lenses - generally they come with a 'kit' lens, which depending on the photography you do you may grow out of fairly quickly. So the DSLR camera body is only half the story - and good lenses can cost plenty. The marketplace here at Pentax Forums is a good place to get an idea of used prices.

Welcome to the forum, Amber. I bought my K-5 because of the features that matched my needs (extensive list), and how it fit my hand.nI also love the fact that I can use lots of old lenses with really good results.

Well....since your bf have 2 dlsr.... if you want to use some of his lenses (if he has some good lenses), then you might want to buy a camera that is compatible to his.
that is ..... assuming you and him going to last as long as camera did.... =)
