Greetings from Melbourne, Australia

Hi Everybody,

My name's Luke, and I just stumbled upon this site researching Pentax DSLRs.

I've been interested in photography ever since I was a kid, and have been shooting Nikon for about ten years I guess. My first SLR was my Grandfather's old Nikon F401, and I've subsequently had a Nikon D70, D50, D80, D5100, D7000, and D90.

I've recently sold my D90 and a few lenses and am without a camera at all at the moment (my wife still has her Nikon D40) - I'm looking for my next DSLR purchase. I've been intrigued by Pentax for some time and thought this might be a good time to jump ship! I particularly like the look of the K-r as a fun little body and a K-5 for something a little more serious - I'm a little torn between the two, and might even like to buy both. I still haven't made up my mind on the body(ies), or on the lens front, but I'll keep looking and researching.

I look forward to reading some of your great information about the Pentax system here.

Thanks!

Luke.

Welcome to the forum, Luke. I love my K-5, but I've seen a number of great deals on the K-r recently.

Thanks for the welcome Arn

You're right... there are some killer deals around, which isn't making it any easier!

I went shopping today intending to buy a K-r single or twin lens kit.

Whilst out, I picked up a K-5, and just couldn't resist! Gorgeous piece of gear

The K-r is a lovely camera, and I'm still enamoured by it, but I bought a K-5 and am really looking forward to getting started on learning the Pentax system.

There are some screaming deals about at the moment - I picked up the Pentax K-5, the 18-55mm WR lens, a spare (genuine) D-L190 battery and a Sigma EF-530 DG Super PA-PTTL speedlight for $1349 AUD! I'm still considering grabbing a K-r for fun too... they almost look too neat to pass up.

Hi Luke. Welcome aboard, now we can meet on two forums!
The K-5 is awesome. Now you just need to develop a limited prime addiction.
If you decide on a second body, consider a K-01. It makes an excellent carry-anywhere option.

Hey Sandy... very funny stuff - imagine meeting you here.

Waiting for my battery to charge is excruciating - I want to play!
