Guess I Can't Lurk Forever

So I wanted to buy something off the marketplace today, but I can't send a PM until I have 2 posts. Fine, I guess I'll stop lurking

As you may be able to tell by my username, I was a Canon user pre-Pentax. I've been into photography for about 15 years now, and until the beginning of this year I have always used Canon equipment.

A few years back I got into HDR. I really enjoy it. At first, like most, I was into the "grunge" look. Thankfully, I grew out of that. Now I just try to make more natural looking images with as much DR squeezed in as possible. What I was finding with my Canon bodies though is that sometimes, 3 shots, even 2 EV apart was not enough. So I did some research to find the most cost effective way to extend that to 5 shots. I could have gone Nikon, but I also had to take into account that I'd have to replace my lenses too. This put Pentax at the front of the pack because of the legacy lens support. I decided to purchase used to try it out since I had never used a Pentax before. I found a K10D with the kit lens on e-bay for $225, and bought it. I've never looked back.

I'll continue this in a second post so I can buy the item I want .

Always great to see lurkers emerge from the shadows (even if it's just to feed their LBA through the marketplace)!

Thanks Adam. Here's part 2 so I can get my second post. Now that I'm out in the open, there will be more to come!

In part one, I explained why I tried a Pentax. Now I want to explain why I'm staying in.

After I got my K10D and tried it out I thought to myself, "That's how a camera is supposed to work.". It's seems that every Canon DSLR I've had has been "ergonomically challenged". I'm sure most Canon users love the control layouts, but they were never quite intuitive to me. After one session with the K10D I could find everything I needed on it in nothing flat. It just felt natural. I was hooked.

So now it was time to get some lenses! First things first, that kit lens had to go. Too much CA for my liking and not quite sharp enough. I replaced it with a Sigma 17-70 2.8-4. I LOVE this lens. Between this and the body, I fell in love with photography all over again.

I sold most of my Canon lenses to help feed a new Pentax LBA. I started buying screw mount lenses because I could use them on either the Pentax or Canon bodies. I've bought a quite few in the last few months (my wife would say too many). I've found a few dogs, but also a few diamonds too. Now that I'm out of the shadows I'll do some reviews in the next few weeks.

Anyhow, that's my story and my 2 posts. Time to go buy some more. The sky is ugly here today, so if I can't shoot, I can get more stuff!
