Newcomer from The Netherlands

Hello Pentaxians,

As a newcomer to the forum I would like to say hello!
Since a few months I own a Pentax K5 and I'm very, very happy with it!
I bought it with the 18-55 kitlens, which is ok, and a Sigma 50mm 1.4, which is super!

Looking forward to learn a lot from experienced Pentax users.

Hello, and welcome to the Forums.

There are many other Pentax users from the Netherlands here, not to mention the rest of Europe. Who knows? You may even find one of them close by (I found several in this little place on the other side of the world from you) and most are more than happy to share their knowledge with you.

You've chosen a good camera to start with and a couple of good lenses, but it's probably wise to learn to make the best of what you have at the beginning before branching out. There's always the danger of LBA (search this site for a definition) lurking as you gain more experience, and the desire for more and different lenses grows!

I'll be spending a little time with Dutch friends in Europe in a few weeks, one of whom is a Nikon fan (but we seem to get on well together), and a little time in Holland, too. It's indeed a much smaller world now, than when I started photography with an Agfa Isola, as a schoolboy!

Enjoy your time here.
Rob

Hello Rob,

Thank you for the welcome!
I immediately looked for LBA....thanks for the warning!
Not shure though if I can resist a nice WA for a long time.
The Samyang 14mm (and Pentax 15mm, 12-24mm) sents its signals to me regularly!

Enjoying already!

I'm glad you got the warning, but maybe not in time! Anyway, I agree the Samyang 14 looks interesting, as does the DA15 (I have the DA15, but also the DA14!) and the Sigma 10-20 is not to be taken lightly, either (I have one of those, too!) and is flexible and fairly fast - there's a whole thread here devoted to it.

Still, one thing at a time - try to get out and shoot as much as possible, and let's see your photos, when you're ready to show them.

Rob
