Hi, I'm Brian Murray, I'm 38 from Airdrie in Scotland. I have always had an interest in photography but never thought about it as a serious hobby, then I managed to drop enough hints to my wife and got a Pentax K-r twin lens kit for Christmas, I actually spent about 4 months researching the best camera to buy and everytime i tried comparing features and specs the k-r always came out on top (for my intended budget anyway), it even seemed to trounce a lot of higher end cameras as well which i was pleasantly surprised at. so since Christmas I have been very attached to the camera and even trying to make a little extra money from it (my main job is as a care home manager). there was a panic moment recently when during my first paid job at a 70th birthday party, my beloved k-r stopped working, i felt like the lonliest guy on the planet and all i could think about was the advice i had read from professionals about always having a back up camera. well, lesson learned now but i will have to save some to get the back up. no such problems getting my own back up with the repair mind you, I took the camera back to Currys expecting it to be exchanged as it was barely 3 months old, they said they had to send it to Pentax first, so i waited, and waited, 12 days later i found out they had still not sent it away and i went to the store and went mad, asking for an immediate replacement, again they fobbed me off blaming Pentax for not providing a courier service so i went home and sent off an email to the CEO and got a call the next morning telling me to come in for a replacement. The only thing that bothers me is i dont know what went wrong with the first camera so I can only hope It doesnt happen again or at least i can get a back up before it does. i have joined a few forums as i feel i want to try and learn photography on my own without going through an expensive college course. i believe i have a natural flair for it and hopefully over time i can learn the technical side of things as i go along so there may be a few panic posts posted to find out where i went wrong.

thanks for having me.

Welcome! It seems like that store didn't do what they were supposed to do- normally, they should send the camera off for repairs right away. If they never sent it, then nobody will even know what went wrong
