Hello from Palmer, Alaska!

Hello from up north! Owner of a K-r for about 2 years, however, I am finally at a point to get more serious about photography. It's coming back to me as I relearn photography via DSLR after taking photography throughout high school over 20 years ago with my trusty K1000. Splurged online today and ordered up a not-too-expensive Pentax DA 35mm 2.4 lens and am excited for it to arrive. Picked up some class 10 SD cards recently and oh what a difference that makes. Looking forward to learning from others!

Welcome back to Pentax - the Kr is a superb camera and the 35/2.4 amazing value for money.

You might want to check your horizons (esp. in the mountain shot) as you seem to have my problem, a slight drag down to the left, in a few of these

Thank you for the advice on horizon adjustment! I will certainly work on this.

Welcome to the forums! Me mate spent a few years in Anchorage and has only good things to say about Palmer, except that it tends towards dampness. Next time we're in the area I'll be sure have WR (weather resistant) gear on hand. Meanwhile, now that you're here, we'll be sure to thoroughly infect inspire you with LBA (lens-buying addiction adrenaline). One can never have enough lenses, eh? Have fun!

Good to have you here, Alaskan! Hope you enjoy the forum. The DA35/2.4 is a highly underrated lens IMO. I'm sure you'll be impressed by it.

Hello Palmer! M and I spent a couple nights in Palmer back in the '90s while exploring the area. Especially enjoyed the local museum, the demo garden with its incredible veges, trips to muskox farm, Iditerod headquarters to see Togo, and a defunct mining camp (can't recall the name, but it's a well-visited site).
