New guy from Texas

Hi. Thanks for making this forum. I have learned alot about this camera and I don't even have one. I'm on the fence about buying this or a couple others. The Samsung NX100 or Cannon G12. I'm really digging this one most, though, so not so much on the fence. I really like all the lens options and flexibility it's size offers. This would be my first foray into something other than point-n-shoot for about 10 years. I took photography back in high school and won a few awards with my 30 yr SLR Nikon. Which was also about the last time I picked the camera up. Gone through 3 in the Coolpix series. But I'm ready for the big boys again, but not ready for a full on DSLR.

So here I am, drooling on my keyboard, looking at pics and videos of this guy and dreaming of taking pictures again that mean something.

I do have a question/suggestion for a common problem I see on here and in reviews of this camera. I have a Barnes & Nook Color (ereader tablet with a bright screen awesome for reading outdoors). On it, I have a matte anit glare screen protector on it. Didn't get it for the protection so much as the glare factor. Got me to wondering, have any of you tried an anti glare film on your's? This is the one for the nook. Could possibly cut it down if someone wants to try it out. Just a suggestion for about the only common problem I've seen for this guy.

Anyways, thanks for reading. You can catch me lurking in the price watch thread. I'll be the one in the corner quietly waiting on any new news.

Welcome here. Have you considered the K-01? A fine camera that has the capabilities of a dSLR but the size of a small bridge camera. Enjoy shopping.

Well one thing that gets my attention about the Q is that one common word that people use to describe it is "fun". I go on lots of bike rides. Only thing I carry is my Camelbak Mule pack. It's a great bag with lots of storage, but gets full easily. Pretty much ride everywhere because I enjoy riding. Go trail riding and bar crawling on it. So because I enjoy riding I also want to enjoy the camera. And one of my photographer buddies who has about 25k invested in his gear loves his for taking around with him when wants to have something simply and easy to use. He has his Q in a pocket with him almost always. That's something that quite appeals to me. Fun, function and easy to use.

He first showed me his G12 and it was just too much control for what I'm looking for now. Kinda wanting something that is relatively easy to pick up and shoot with. But thank you very much for the suggestion.
