Hello! My name is Marianne. I am a mother of three and and grandmother of two. I purchased the Pentax K-r in November, 2010 so I could take better photos of my granddaughters, who are always on the move. I started out with "Auto" but began reading my manual and practicing in "Manual" pretty quickly. I am looking forward to posting a few photos and getting some feedback, as well as seeing others photos for inspiration. I don't ever expect to become a Pro, but I still want my pictures to be as well shot as possible. The uploads are from last summer. I don't have a Macro lens, but I have discovered that I love Macro images! Thanks for any tips and help you can give!

Welcome Marianne,
There are IMHO two parts to photography, the first is often called "having the eye", which simply means you know what a good image should look like, composition, subject etc are interesting. The other part is technical, getting the best from the equipment you have. From what you posted you have the eye, well done. Technical stuff can be learned and taught. But if you don't have the eye you are just taking snapshots. Looking forward to seeing more of your stuff.

We'll have to start a special forum just for amateur photographers who are also grandparents - with how young grandparents are these days, it might be an awfuly big group.

Welcome to Pentax Forum. I will look forward to seeing more of your photography!

If you are already capturing images like this, you are well on your way to being an excellent photographer. You might also want to look into basic post processing, just to bump up the contrast and color a little, but you've already got the hard part down which is getting the composition right.
