Three mysterious motifs ...

Instead of just saying „Hello“, I decided to share a little test with you. I found it in a german Newspaper called “Die Zeit”. Thus, by the way, you know, where I am coming from. To me the little test was fun. Hopefully you will see it likewise.

I will neither reveal the correct answers nor what the test claims to find out. At least not in this post I will present you the correct answers and further information next weekend. You will see, that the test result can be related to how one takes his/her photos. Somehow.

The test consists of three questions:
1) A flashlight, including the bulb, costs 1,10 (Dollar, Euro, whatever). The flashlight costs 1 Euro more than the bulb. How much is the bulb?
2) Imagine a textile factory, where 5 machines can produce 5 shirts in 5 minutes. How long will it take 100 machines to produce 100 shirts?
3) Now imagine a pond with water lilies, hard working water lilies. At the end of every day they cover twice as much of the pond’s surface as the day before. After 48 days the whole pond is covered by water lilies. How long did it take the water lilies to cover half of the pond’s surface?

Now good luck and have fun!

PS: As you already know, I live in Germany, the very north of Germany to be more precise. I used to shoot on film (can I say so or is it kind of Germlish) during the 1980s and then stopped photographing for many years. A few years ago I started to re-discover photography. I bought a Pentax K100D Super in 2008, since a few months I own a Pentax K5 and a beautiful Spotmatic. Mainly because of budgetary reasons I got infected with the manual-focus-lense-virus. But I feel quite well with this disease

Welcome aboard!

1: Bulb is 0.05, light is 1.05.
2: Time is 5 minutes.
3: Time is 47 days.

For you: How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? If vegetarians eat vegetables, what to humanitarians eat? If a tin whistle is made of tin, what is a foghorn made from?

Cheers!

Ok,Ok... Thank you for not immediately throwing me out of this forum again. To be honest, I expected "tl;dr" as the first reply to my post.

To "solve" the puzzle: Of course RioRico is right. The test claims to say something about whether one is a more rational or intuitional type of person. The more correct answers, the more rational. Apparantly this test was given to students at different colleges. The newspaper reported, that students from the MIT appear to be the ones, who tend to be most systematic in terms of decision making.

But however. Thanks for your replies. I'm looking forward to find lots of helpful answers to other and more important questions in this forum.

Cheers,
Carsten
