The new boy

Hi everyone,

Well, the new boy is me but also the K-30 which I'm thinking whether to buy or not. I have a K200D, with 18-55 kit lens, and the pentax 35 mm, 2.4f, and I'm thinking to upgrade to K-5 or the K-30. In the last few days I devoted my self to read the thread comparing this pair ("Which is better...") till I decide fully.

Also I have a few old lenses which I want to try on my digital camera (I need first the adapter to).

Thanks,

Sinkola

I would go for the k-30 as it's newer and more like your k200. I'd also recommend swapping the 18-55 kit for an 18-135mm.

Hi Adam,

Thanks for the advise. I'm kind of stuck between the "newer" and the fact that I'm actually interested in upgrading to a more professional camera, aka the K-5. I think the K200D helped me grow nicely as a photographer and now it is time to move on, to a better camera, especially concerning shooting in law light situations. I like the look and feel of the K-5, as well as its current price range, but feel somewhat awkward to upgrade to the an somewhat old model. the K-30 definitely newer with the latest technology.

Regarding, the 18-135 lens, I saw some harsh reviews and thought maybe to try and get hold to some nice second hand primes.

The 18-135 is a solid performer. It's still a zoom, but it's a nice weathersealed motorized zoom!

As for the body, you've got a decision on your hands.
I certainly wouldn't consider the K-5 an OLD model, but the production run is done and you can get a great performer for a good price now. Personally, I like the K-5 over K-30 for just a couple reasons like the top LCD which I use all the time to quickly check settings.
