i would suggest use of a remote as there would be no provision for a cable release, as far as I am aware.

Correction : there is provision, see page 17 of the Manual. Does not specify which cable release there though.

So far K200-D and K-5 both use a cable RC and jack the same as for Canon 350D-600D series cameras. I would expect the K-30 to be the same, but not sure.

The jack measurement for K200-d and K-5 is 2.5mm as measured with micrometer.

So, Jerry, what did you find out? I, too, would like to know what the proper cable release is for the K30. Thanks for any insight you (or anyone else) can give.

cable release for K30

I bought a Meike C1 from Adorama and it works fine. The box says it for Canon and pentax ist-d. I bought it three months ago and have used it often, with no issues. Was just on the Adorama site and it is no longer listed??? Try Ebay.

From Jerry's reply, it confirms that K-30 is same as other Pentax, which is also the same as any of the Canon Rebel series (350d-600d). So any cable remote for any Pentax ist to K-5 or Canon 350d to 600d camera will work on K-30. The Canon 30d to 60d is different though.
