Hi from BarryJP,
I'm another Barry, just joined the forum.
I've got quite a bunch of Pentax gear, the top of the heap being my Pentax K-5.
My main lens, until recently, was the Pentax 17-70 SDM, but have recently noticed problems with the auto-focus. On checking out this forum, I can see that it is not an unusual problem.
I'm going to phone Kennedy's (distributors) tomorrow to see if they can give me an idea of the repair cost. It might be a toss-up whether to repair or replace. Anyone with experience on repair costs from them in Australia? (it's out of warranty- about 26 months old)
