How to reduce picture file size ???

https://www.pentaxforums.com/gallery/images/52443/1_Image_2.jpg

How do you reduce a picture file ( on Mac OR PC ) to make it comply with forum limits ?
At the moment I am sending a 16.2 megabyte file 645D from Mac to PC to reduce file size ,but there are very limited options (Optimised , Small , Medium , Large or Full Sized )
Large is only 1898 KB .
Pics taken with the Pentax istDS I can crop to bring the size back to 2MB ,if the file is relatively small in the first place.
Surely you guys know of a better method ?
Above is link ,I hope , to one of my reduced pics.

I use a program called "Easy Thumbnails". It's a free download and fairly easy to use. Screws up the exif data on the reduced image though.

Regards

There's a great little freeware image viewer/editor for Windows called Irfanview. You can easily resize the image to whatever you like. I think the recommended max photo dims. on PF.com is 1024x768. Irfanview has settings to use several "standard" sizes, including 1024x768, 800x600, 640x480, etc. Easy to use program that allows you to retain high image quality when resizing.

I just throw everything up on flickr full size and link to their resized images. It's good enough for me.

FastStone is a free download that works well for resizing.
