Hello from West Virginia USA
Hello all I am really glad I found this site.
I bought my first SLR in the early 1980's it was a Sears and I really liked it. I acquired an assortment of lenses and filters, and took some classes. Later I bought a Pentax ME. I became a fair amateur photographer. Did a couple of weddings for family members, vacation photos etc. I often prefered to shoot in full manual. Then digital came along and I purchased a Pentax istD. It was the first and only time I bought an electronic gadget way too soon and overpaid for something that would be quicky improved while the price dropped. I usually wait.
Anyway I never seemed to get my brain transfered to digital and the istD is practically unused. I bought a Fuji compact digital for snapshots, I never really tried out much of the features on the Fuji either and my interest in photography faded. One of the reasons I never did much with the Fuji is I will never get used to composing a shot by looking at the back of a camera. I want to look thru the lens.
Now I have retired and having more time I am thinking about doing more photography. I was considering purchasing another DSLR when I found this site and started reading the reviews. Though the istD is primitave, compared to current technology, it may be all I really need now to try to learn more about digital photography.
I wonder if any books are out there that deal with making the mental switch from film to digital?
Anyway this looks like a great site.
