New K-30 owner from Calgary

I'm new to DSLR having been a long time "rugged" point and shoot user (Optio WG-1) since most of my photos are taken off roading or fishing. A few of my buddies shoot DSLR on the trail and their pictures always have so much more depth and quality, but I've always been worried about water and dust. Then a little while ago I saw an article on Gizmodo with Heie's video of his K-5 and K-7, which pretty much convinced me to go buy a Pentax DSLR. After debating between the K-5 and K-30 I finally ended up getting the K-30 with the 18-135 kit lens. So far after a month of use I'm pretty happy with it. I've been lurking around here for a bit soaking up lots of info and can't wait to learn more.

Here's my rig:

And the places it takes me:

Thank you. This camera has been excellent to learn on. The auto mode produces great shots for when I don't have time to fiddle around with the settings thus reducing my frustration. I've decided to learn one setting at a time instead of diving in and trying to do it all at once. So far I've only been playing with the aperture to do some bokeh since it isn't too difficult but produces nice images.

Years ago, while passing through Calgary I stopped in at a camera shop that was full of second hand Pentax lenses. We picked up an SMC A 90 macro for my *ist that turned out to be a great lens. If it's still there it could be a great thing for you .The only thing I remember about it was I didn't have to get off the trans-can to go by it,

Hmm, I'll see if I can find something. The transCan has tons of businesses along it in Calgary and they've changed a lot in the 20 years I've lived here...

There was a discussion in the Alberta social group that mentions a retailer of used lenses:

Fantastic. Didn't even know that thread existed since I've mostly been reading up on some of the beginner and K-30 threads. So far this forum has been a great resource.
