Pentax Marine 7x50 Binoculars

I am currently working with the Sea Watch Foundation, a marine conservation charity, on their Cardigan Bay Bottlenose Dolphin Project and I require assistance with converting the measured reticles into a distance. Our objective is to measure the distance from the boat to the dolphins. How do I convert the measured reticle value into a distance?

Thanks, Rachel

Rachel, this is a camera forum primarily so that's not a question we see very often. You might get more answers asking the admins to move this somewhere else on the forum instead of the introduction section which not everyone reads.

I did find this article with a quick Google search which has some information of interest: National Marine Mammal Laboratory Beyond that I am sorry I cannot help.

Apologies, this is the first time I've used a forum so still trying to figure it all out. Thank you for your advice.
