Hi, all. I'm a new member coming back to SLR photography after many, many years of a compact Olympus. My last SLR was a Ricoh Singlex II that I bought second hand in 1980.

I chose a pre-owned Pentax K10D (my first DSLR) mainly because of its robust, weatherproof construction (ideal for a motorcyclist) and because I like the integration of the Pentax lens system. And it was economical to buy for someone just made redundant.

Favourite lenses are the Pentax SMC DA 1:4(22) 16-45 ED-AL wide angle and the SMC DA 1:3.5-6.5 18-250 ED AL zoom. I find the wide angle useful for panoramic landscape, interiors and confined places like village lanes and the zoom is useful for most other applications.

WRT competency I think my composition is OK but I still have a long, long way to go to master aperture and exposure. At least digital is cheap to practice with!

Best regards

I like K10D more than the newer DSLR. I like the CCD sensor. I'm using a D200 which has about the same sensor as K10D.

You got a very nice setup.
