Dan,
Welcome and Hello from Walla Walla! I just signed up a couple days ago. Still waiting for my K-5, but building a lens list.

Another Pentax in Portland! Seems Pentax and Portland were meant for each other... First of all weather sealing (duh) and then celebrating things that are great but different from the mainstream. Way to keep an open mind!

So for this season, I hope you have two types of lenses: weather sealed ones and fast ones for shooting indoors. What lenses did you get?

Hope you like your camera as much as I do!

Take care,
Mike

Right now I only have the kit lens 18-55wr but I do have some old m42 lenses 50 f1.4, 28 f2.5, 135 f2.8. My next lens will probably be the 50-200wr because its inexpensive, however I plan on getting better glass when my pocket book recovers from this recent purchase. Maybe a super wide zoom and one or two limited lenses. By the way when you input the focal length of those old m42 lenses into the camera do you factor in the 1.5x crop factor or does the camera already know to do this?

I've always just put in the actual focal length of the lens I put on. To be honest, I haven't checked to see if it adjusts itself but I've assumed it does...

Focal length is focal length regardless of the sensor behind the lens, so put in the real one. When you look at images later the f/ value won't be there but the FL you entered will, which is nice for cataloging as well as SR!
