Hello from Canada

Just joined. My name is Danny and I live near Montreal. I just received for Christmas a Pentax istDL and looking forward to the many photos. I am into nature, wildlife and astrophotography.

If any have good dealers around the Montreal area or mail order, please let me now as I would be looking for a remote control for my camera. Thanks

Welcome!
I don't know about remote controls, but for second hand lenses I have great experience with Vintage Visuals Photographic - they are not in Montreal, though

Welcome Danny,

I live near Montréal too (St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, actually), and there are several reputable local shops all around. You don't mention where exactly you are, but the Montréal "big three" are L.L. Lozeau on St-Hubert street (http://www.lozeau.com/), Photoservice on Notre-Dame (http://www.photoservice.ca/), and Camera Simon on St-Antoine W. (http://www.simonscameras.com/).

I personally favor my local shop, Lord Photo.

Finally, if by chance you own a PalmOS PDA, the following software lets you use it as a remote control for Pentax DSLRs: SourceForge.net: IR remote shutter control for Pentax

I am in Lachute, so about 70kms from Montreal. Know St-Jean well. Thanks for the websites, I'll pay them a visit.

Thanks. With so many shops, I'll just have to find the one that's right for me.

I don't know the shops around Quebec, but I'd like to welcome you to the forums from one Canadian to another!
