Greetings from Florida

Hello! I just my new Pentax X-5 and so far, I'm pleased. I was looking for an inexpensive camera with better zoom qualities than my old point and shoot. These are my first photos. I was on my back porch pointing towards that white bush and fence pole ...

Then I zoomed closer ...

and then even closer ...

I'm happy with the zoom!

Now on to explore the rest of the camera . . .

Welcome!
I had a chance to hold an X5 and I was impressed.
As a bridge camera, the X5 is great!
I'd say that the X5 satisfied all your criteria!

1) Inexpensive - probably around $240-250
2) Better zoom than your old P&S - definitely!

Just remember that it's a bridge camera, and is not designed to compete with some of the other offerings from Pentax. Caveat if you will.

If you decide to move upscale, there are huge leaps in IQ (image quality) that some of the other cameras from Pentax offer - and for a little bit more.

Regardless, welcome to Pentax ownership!
