Hello everyone. It's great to be here.

Adam (and everyone else here),

Thank you for the warm welcome. I look forward to corresponding with other Pentaxians. My first camera was a K1000 that I used in college (several decades ago) for Geology, Astronomy, and Meteorology classes mainly. A year or two later I began a career as a commercial pilot and always flew with my camera at arm's reach. It was stolen, along with my lenses, in the early '80's from a hotel room in Jamaica and I never replaced it - a wife, a couple of kids, a career change, and other factors pushed photography aside.

Now, as I'm contemplating retirement and wondering where the hell the last thirty-five years have gone, I've come back to photography, and Pentax. About four years ago I took a leave of absence from my job, a land surveyor, and got an associate degree in horticulture, just for fun, and that's what got me back in to photography. I firmly believe that photography should be a part of everyone's education. I learned more about photography in six months going digital than I did in six years using film. Film is great, but digital has really been liberating.

If I had it to do it all over again, I'd have gone into photography full time. It's given me a new appreciation for, and a new purpose in life. I look forward to sharing my successes, and failures, learning and sharing from, and with this group of fellow Pentax users.

Thanks again,

Greg

Welcome to the forum Greg. Sounds like you're going to shift from a career of flying (hours of boredom with a couple minutes of sheer terror at either end) to photography (a couple minutes of boredom with hours of sheer terror) . Your comment about digital being liberating is spot on. It's great fun!
