Aussie says gooday.

Hello to all,

Have been called a lurker and cohersed into joining this forum (not fond of being a member of too many fourms). Found it very usefull, the lens database is a great asset.

Live in Cessnock NSW, Australia, have owned only Pentax SLR and recently bought a K5. My favorite was K1000 bought 1980 and served very well for 14 years, sent it in for repairs and it was lost in transit, insurance was nice, but it was a great camera, got a MZ-5n with the insurance and a couple of kit lenses (Sigma ) was never really impressed with the kit lenses results and got away from photos for awhile.

Started back into using SLR after my son (nikon user D600 caught by K5 see attachement) earlier gave me a trial of his DSLR and SLR use was something that I had missed after so many years of using compact camers for digital, the DSLR have become very close to 35mm film and slighly more affordable. Having a K5 with the 18-135 WR Lens, it is interesting how the old Sigma Kit lens perform so much better with the K5, not outstanding but much better than they ever did with film.

Well thanks for the site and accumulated knowledge herein.

Regards

gmans

Welcome gmans,

I'm just up the road in the New England area.

The lens database is very handy - as is the advice and info I glean from general posts.

Regards, Gary

Thank you AussieTrev and Musings. Aussies usually support the underdog re Pentax vs the Canikon set.

Thanks Lurch, yes about the Nikon, but he won't swap me at all.
