Hello from Logjam

Hello everybody... I'm on the point of purchasing a Pentax K5 and have joined this forum for some helpful info... I'm looking to do some wildlife/birding photography and also some macro stuff. I would be grateful for any advice on lenses and as my budget isn't going to run to more than £1000 gbp in total this is a tight remit ... any thoughts?

Welcome aboard! The K-5 won't let you down from an image quality standpoint, but you will need to invest in some longer lenses for wildlife and a good macro lens (like the Tamron 90mm or Pentax 100mm). If you have any specific questions, please post them in our K-5 or lens forums to get a more detailed response!

Thanks for your reply Adam... I've just been looking at this and figure it could be a good option as a "walkaround" lens with a good macro facility?

The 35mm is a great lens, but it feels a little short for macro. I actually ended up selling mine as I prefer a 100mm for macro.

Apart from that minor issue, though, the 35mm is insanely sharp and it offers great bokeh. We have a review of it on our homepage, and plenty of user reviews in the lens database!
