Hi all, New to photography - have a K-5 and want to move away from the auto settings to develop my skills. Interested in macro and similar photography - but don't really know where to start.

Welcome aboard! There is a lot of information on this site, and people willing to help. The Beginner's section may have some good advice. There are also member written articles on how to do certain things, and how they did a selected photo. You can also post a photo that isn't what you really wanted, and ask how to get that. Most of all have patience, you must learn your camera, and hone your skills. I have to say using this website can greatly speed up learning. It has sure helped me, lots of great people are here willing to help.
