Finally got tired of RUDENESS on DPreview

I've been a Pentax user for a little over a year now, and I spend a lot of time on Dpreview, but lately (ok forever) the rudeness has really started to drag me down, really all I care about is Pentax, so yesterday I joined this forum, and it's like a giant weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
I certainly don't think I know that much, but I enjoy helping people when I can.
Levi

Welcome Levi.
Don't believe it can't happen here....it has & does, but it seems to be less intense and more conversational here.
Look forward to your contributions.

Conversations I can handle, it's intollerance of anyone elses opinion, and the quick escalation to a shouting match that bothers me.
And I'm not even saying I've never been guilty of it.

It's very easy to succumb to a lowest-common-denominator form of behavior. But (going out on a limb here) I think the type of person who buys a brand like Pentax is inherently more open to other opinions than the type who buys those "other" brands.

Welcome!

rutster,
One of my goals is to start an informal st louis pentax users group.
Mabye meet at a local Borders, or starbucks and go on an occassional photoshoot at a local park or landmark.
Just an Idea.

that is a good idea. heck it doesn't even have to be pentax users. i have a few friends using other cameras. it would just be good to get together with other photographers and snap off some shots.

Sounds cool to me too, would be fun to do something like that.

Glad to have you on line, Levi. A real plus is that you are from St.Louis and that's my second home . I've taken many shots at the Arch and am proud to say they came out fantastic. B&W is my favorite format. I have a Spotmatic and a PX-1p that I wouldn't ever give up. While other camera makers went out of business, Pentax is thriving. They must be doing something right. Hope to see some of your pics of the new Busch Stadium, Riverfront, etc.
Who knows maybe one day I may head down there and meet you for coffee and we can chat
together. Regards, Don
