Hello from Oregon

I just want to say hi and to express appreciation forl how amazing and wonderful this forum is!! Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the information!!

I've just upgraded to a dslr from a pretty full-featured Panasonic Lumix, but point-and-shoot nonetheless, so feel like a complete newbie at photography. Actually liked and did OK with the Panasonic but after getting 2 blue ribbons and a "best-of-show" at the County Fair for my photos (corny, I know) I'm determined to take my photography to the next level.

So did a lot of research, and opted to go Pentax -- lots of features plus the ability to use older lenses. I'd originally planned to get a k-30 or k5II but thought I'd better start cheaper to begin with, just to see if I "had what it takes" to make the investment and follow through, so found a used k-x that came with three lenses, two flashes, and a few filters on Craigslist for about $300. But NOW is the learning curve!! And thank goodness for these forums! Virtually every question I have and google to answer leads me to a forum here and voila! Question answered! All my extra lenses are manual, so I found there was a lot of really great advice here in the threads dealing with that issue.

And might I say that I strongly suspect that this is going to be extremely addicting? I bought the camera right before Christmas and I've already bought 2 more lenses (primes) cheaply on auction sites, have invested in more filters, macro extension tubes, a remote control, an extra lens hood, more caps, etc. Every Craiglist, auction, or ebay search now begins with "Pentax......" Ha! (I imagine I'm not alone.) ;-)

Anyway, just introducing myself. I'll try to search for the answers before I ask any stupid questions but I'm sure I'll inevitably come up with a few. (Stupid questions that is....)

Welcome to the forum, and good to have you here.
Enjoy the K-x. I went through that camera as well, and it was a good performer - good little sensor.
The hobby is definitely addictive, but I like to consider it enticing.
