Welcome to the forum!

There is a camera shop at the fourways mall that stocks all Pentax gear...

Just PM me if you need more info... Otherwise when the Rand Dollar exchange rate is favourable it can be cheaper to get from BH...

Hi from Cape Town. Welcome to a very useful resource on all things Pentax and photography in general. Enjoy the browsing.

A few shops in CT also stock Pentax or at least will source if required. But as GordonZA has noted, if you're a bit more adventurous you can consider using B&H or Adorama. There is no import duty on lenses, but there is on cameras (7%), and you have to pay VAT on all the items at purchase value.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum for a fellow SA Pentaxian. Just over a year ago, almost bought a K-r, but ended up getting a gaming PC, now the bug has bitten again, and am looking at a K-30.

Hi

Wellcome

As far as I know only one shop in the Cape area and they couldn't source a K5

Bought two Pentax lenses from NIVO ( online shop in South Africa ) and their availability and service fantastic. Prices not be bad either. Was cheaper than Adorama with taxes and delivery to Namibia

Cheers

Your "About Me" indicates that you have a K-5ii and a K-7. Are you seriously asking this question about the camera body, or more the overall package including lenses..?

The Pentax equivalent is a Nikon D4...

Ek dink sommige mense sal lank dood wees daarop te wag voordat Pentax so 'n kamera maak. Jy moet my Afrikaans verskoon want dit is nie my eerste taal nie...

Pentax don't produce any full frame (36x24mm) sensor cameras, so there is no direct comparison. Currently the K-5 lI and K-5 IIs are the premier APS-C cameras from Pentax and feature a slightly smaller than the D4 sensor (APS-C 23.7 × 15.7 mm) with a crop factor of approx 1.5x full frame magnification for a similar lens focal length. So while not in the same league as the D4 but also price bracket, as far as image quality and features go, the K-5 is no slouch.

There is also the medium format 645D with a 40MPixel (44 × 33mm) sensor. But that is $10k approximate.
