Hello..., I finally am getting around to the introduction!
Been a reading member for quite some time, finally guilted into ringing-in. I am a recovering film photography hobbiest, with a number of film SLRs. I historically have been more of a landscape and architecture photographer but also like taking photos at large gatherings (parties, weddings etc.)
I have a Pentax Zx5n, with a number of lenses. I love film..., but development quality logistics are driving my dinosaur self into the digital age. I bought my son a Pentax K-100 four or so years ago (which he loves.) Soon it will be my turn. I expect to purchase a Pentax SLR digital in the next year, so I'll be doing quite a bit of reading, on this site, to get all of your opinions on the best camera in the $800 range! (I'm also intrigued by the new line of mirror-free camera bodies that still take the old Pentax lenses.)
