hello all from Houston Texas!

my names josh and im an alcoholic. oh no, wait! i meant to say im a pentaxian!
I've actually been on this forum countless of times reading reviews and learning to be a more knowledgeable photographer but never registered, so I bit that procrastination bullet and finally registered. I stumbled on to Pentax a few years back when I was going on a cruise and wanted a water proof digital camera (at this time I wasn't even sure they existed) I found the w80. this was the camera that started my love affair with pentax. i fell in love with its capabilities taking it past its 12ft water proof mark (which at the time was the deepest a digital camera could go) to 30ft taking some great pics making the risk worth it. i was so happy with the camera i never bought the w90 but when the wg-1 came out i was one of the 1st to snatch it! I now own the wg-2 and i also pushed these two cameras to the limits. I took the wg-1 to San Pedro Belize with me to scuba dive with sharks taking it past its 33ft rated mark to 88ft. and it worked wonderfully! when I hit 90ft the pressure pushed the power button off. I guess that was pentax's way of saying "okay you're pushing it!" I also done the same with my wg-2 in the Florida keys, taking it down 120ft! I still was capable of taking it further being the pressure didn't push the power button off but we were at the very bottom, and I felt I rocked the boat enough! after being so impressed by my adventure cameras they made up my mind for me when deciding what brand to pick for my 1st DSLR.
I didn't want to spend a great deal of money being this would be my 1st DSLR and not knowing if I was going to like it or even be smart enough to use it. I chose the k-x I've owned it for roughly under a year, bought it 2nd hand in mint condition and have been so happy with it. this camera made me under stand that unlike a point and shoot you don't need a high pixel camera to take amazing shots, great lenses can do wonders. im sure some time this year I'll upgrade to maybe a
k-30 as I get better with my camera skills and buy more lenses (wants a tilt shift lens so bad!) when that time comes it will be hard to replace my k-x I have such an emotional attachment to it but I'm sure I'll love my next one just as much. soon as I can I'll upload some pics I've taken with my cameras through the last few years. I'm happy to finally be a member of this forum and no longer a creeper
