Hello all,

I've been shooting with my sp500 for a year or so along with a Canon 1d and decided I wanted a digital that weighed less than a small car. So i picked up a k-01 with the two kit lenses. I do a lot of "street photography" and am happy with my old m42 35mm and the kit lens but am mostly interested in birds, the 50-200 is not nearly enough reach so i'm looking at older manual focus k mount lenses in the 300-500 mm range. I've seen a few on flea-bay for small money that have lens fungus and being a tinkerer have though about buying one to clean up. Any thoughts on this?

Welcome and congratulations on getting a K-01!

Depends how good of a tinkerer you are and if you have the tools (and environment), I guess. Some people buy fungused lenses and send them off to get repaired by a pro, but if you think you can manage on your own, who knows. Be sure to read up some tutorials online about it first, about lens construction and about fungus removal (without damaging the coatings and glass)
