Hiya, Jose here!

Hi, the name is Jose. Was researching entry level cameras for a purchase down the line, ie. May or so. Then I went from looking at strictly the T4i, 60D and was considering the Nikon flavored entry levels too. Then out of nowhere I stumbled onto a K-30 review while salivating on a K-5 article.

After a month or two of checking articles, videos, reviews or the Canon, Nikon and the K-30 I decided that the DSLR I was going to purchase was the one I got today, Pentax K-30. Why I got it today and not May? Well Ms QVC decided to put on clearance a kit with the DA L 18-55mm, Pentax Gadget Bag and 4GB of SDHC and a bundled software I'll never use for 629.99 and they had the 6 payments thing going on until this past Sunday, so I will enjoy my K-30 tomorrow for around $113.00 for 6 payments. Couldn't resist.

I come from a Canon S5IS Powershot and when I turned on the K-30 the first thing I did was try to zoom in and out with the on and off switch LOL

Well been reading the forums since I found the review of the K-5 and K-30 and will probably still lurk around and post when I can help and of course when I need it too!

Is this supposed to be 140 characters too? LOL

Welcome to the Forums and the world of Pentax. I hope you enjoy your k-30. One thing to note is the lens you mentioned is NOT water / weather resistant lens unless it says WR on it . It is still a nice lens for shooting . I use my DA 18-55 as a walk around lens often

Thanks eaglem! I always try to see the sunny side of everything, even when it's a storm brewing.

Thanks patrick9! I bought it with that knowledge in terms of the WR. QVC had the black color camera pictured with a 18-135mm, and I was fast to call and ask if that is the lens that "black color option comes with" I was quickly told that ofcourse it wasn't. I didn't expect a WR lens at the $629.99 american dollars I spent for the kit with the memory and bag.

I got to take some pictures and when I feel more comfortable with the process of seeing an image, and snapping what I really wanted to snap and not an exposure mishap, then will try to post here and my flickr.

Thanks again guys. I'm very excited and bummed because right now is night time here and there is some flurries coming down, but I guess I'll wait till it stops until I WR myself, which I think I prefer to buy some vintage 50's or 28's before going for a WR lens.

Talking about that, is trying to get a 50 or 28-35mm prime down under f/2 a good idea for a first lens that I want to have for indoor low light + some portraits outside? Thanks
